Come celebrate Newbery medalist, Matt de la Peña whose young adult novels have been featured on the New York Times Bestselling list. His debut novel, Ball Don’t Lie, was made into a major motion picture and his second novel, Mexican WhiteBoy, was a ‘Best Book for Young Adults.’ Matt received his MFA in creative writing from SDSU and his BA from the University of the Pacific, where he attended school on a full athletic scholarship for basketball. This reading is a presentation of the Hugh Hyde Living Writers Series, which began at SDSU over twenty-five years ago. Generously endowed by Mr. Hyde in 2000, the series is one of the longest continuously running reading series in the nation. All events are free and open to the public.
