Hub-Centric Techs: Josie & Mike
Josie Acevedo and Mike DiMaio are your tech-therapists for all your computer related needs.
A Hub of Activity
The Library Computing Hub, or the Hub as it is affectionately known, is the largest open computer lab at SDSU. It is located on the 2nd floor of the Love Library. In addition to housing hundreds of computers, the Hub is also home to other areas that put tremendous computing power at your fingertips! Build IT, the campus makerspace, is housed in the northwest corner of the Hub. You can use one of the twelve Bloomberg Terminals in the the Financial Markets Lab, which is right next door to Build IT. Map IT, a data analysis/visualization lab, will be opening in the Hub next spring.
Hub Helpers
There are many hardware and software options in the Library, and sometimes technical questions come up. Josie Acevedo oversees the Help Desk, where students, faculty, and staff can get help with technical questions. The Help Desk is located near the entrance to the Hub, and help is available every hour that the Library is open. There are 252 PCs and 34 Macs in the Hub (we told you it was a big lab!), and Mike Demaio works to keep all of those machines going. When a computer needs fixing, Mike works tirelessly to get it up and running again.
