University Archivist, Amanda
Amanda Lanthorne processes archival collections, provides instruction and reference services, curates exhibits, and really enjoys eating nachos.
Historical Guardian
As the university archivist, Amanda works to preserve, organize and provide access to archival collections related to university history as well as local and regional history. She is particularly interested in documenting underrepresented groups in an effort to foster diversity and promote empathy, sensitivity, and critical thinking. SDSU currently has numerous collections documenting the Chicana/o and African-American communities as well as women’s studies, but there's still potential to diversify SDSU's collections further.
Research Consultant
Amanda provides research consultations with students conducting primary source research. She also manages and develops the library’s archival collections, curates exhibits, and teaches primary source class sessions in Special Collections.
University Archives
The University Archives is the official repository for institutional records documenting the intellectual, cultural, and administrative history of San Diego State. We collect, preserve, and make accessible records created by campus colleges and departments, administration, faculty, and student organizations in order to uphold institutional memory and support the teaching and research needs of faculty, staff, and students as well as the larger community.
