Textbooks on Reserve

Stack of books

Thanks to generous funding received from the President’s Leadership Fund, many textbooks that students need will be found on Course Reserves.

The $10,000 grant will purchase over 120 textbooks—thanks in part to our partnership with Aztec Shops, who gave us a generous discount. We decided which textbooks to buy based on the highest number of students expected in a class.

Artist Talk on Southern Experience

Thursday, Aug 27 in LL431 see and hear Jonathan Green. Raised in South Carolina, his paintings depict the scenes and the people he knew as a child. His colorful acrylic and oil paintings have helped preserve the Gullah culture. The Gullah are the descendants of enslaved Africans who live in the low country region of South Carolina and Georgia, including the coastal plain and the Sea Islands. Story-telling, rice based cuisine, music, folk beliefs, crafts, farming and fishing traditions of the Gullah people all exhibit strong influences from West and Central Africa.
