New Social Justice Collection

Our Social Justice Collection has launched!

As announced in a statement from Interim Dean Patrick McCarthy, the Library has established a Social Justice Collection of materials that support research and inquiry into issues of social justice in America.

Statement from the Dean

We in the library value diversity, equity and inclusion.

The recent and past deaths of people of color through police violence are unacceptable. We support the nationwide demonstrations determined to bring about meaningful and lasting change. We are deeply saddened by the impact this difficult time has had on our students, the SDSU community, and the wider community around our campus. As part of the SDSU community, we join with University President Adela de la Torre in declaring that, “We must do better and be better, and we will.”

New Library Dean

Provost Ochoa appoints Scott Walter as new dean of the Library.

Walter, whose appointment begins July 31, currently serves as university librarian and professor at Illinois Wesleyan University. Joining SDSU, Walter succeeds Gale Etschmaier, who retired in fall 2018, and Patrick McCarthy, who is serving as interim dean.
