The newly completed Aztec Center in 1968

The Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union is stylish and functional, but the building it replaced was also pretty special.  The old Aztec Center was designed in the 1960's by Robert Mosher, the same Southern California architect who designed the Coronado Bridge.

Fortunately, Associated Students staff saved a photo album full of images of the construction of the original Aztec Center.  Over 400 photos and a couple of brochures highlight the groundbreaking, construction and finally the opening of the beautiful, modernist building.

Check them out on our Aztec Center Construction Scrapbook page.
