free tax assistance at the library

Updated: the VITA program has been cancelled.

Need help filing your tax return?

The Fowler College of Business is partnering with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program again this year to offer free tax assistance to SDSU students, including international students, and qualifying community members in the library. The Library will be hosting the VITA program in Room LA-76 (basement of the Library Addition) every Saturday from 02/22/20 until 03/21/20.

All of the volunteers are upper level accounting students that go through IRS training, and they are supervised by accounting faculty throughout the program. The page below explains who qualifies for the program, what documents to bring, and how to make an appointment. It is worth noting that this page has a separate list of what to bring and a separate appointment link for foreign students, because their tax forms are more complex. When possible, walk-ins will be assisted, but booking an appointment is the only way to guarantee that you will receive assistance.

If you are a US Resident and were not able to book an appointment at SDSU VITA, there are multiple VITA providers in San Diego who are also offering free tax preparation assistance. To see the locations and hours of the other VITA sites, see the link below.
