We in the library value diversity, equity and inclusion.
The recent and past deaths of people of color through police violence are unacceptable. We support the nationwide demonstrations determined to bring about meaningful and lasting change. We are deeply saddened by the impact this difficult time has had on our students, the SDSU community, and the wider community around our campus. As part of the SDSU community, we join with University President Adela de la Torre in declaring that, “We must do better and be better, and we will.”
The library’s mission is "to support the information, curricular and research needs of the university's diverse community through the widest possible range of resources and we are committed to information literacy, lifelong learning, and creative endeavors in a welcoming environment.” As part of that mission, we are intensifying our efforts to provide information resources to promote a wider understanding of the issues facing our nation.
The library will direct resources towards developing an unrivaled social justice collection. It is our intention to provide access to a collection of great depth and breadth for all members of the SDSU community. This collection will include both print and electronic materials, including streaming media. While the library building is still closed, all of our librarians are available to help locate resources and provide assistance through our Library Chat feature.
We encourage everyone to expand their knowledge and understanding through the use of this collection.
