In 2015, 193 member states of the United Nations adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future.

At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by developed and developing countries - in a global partnership.

SDSU Inspires Action: U.N. Sustainable Development Goals on Display is an extraordinary exhibit exploring the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and how students, researchers, and faculty at SDSU are supporting these efforts. The exhibit consists of two parts: Metabolism of Cities Living Lab SDSU 4 SDGs “Leave No One Behind” exhibition and Libraries and Sustainability: Working Toward the UN Sustainable Development Goals in the SDSU Library. Both parts of the exhibit are housed in the University Library and are open to the public during normal library hours.

It is fitting that the SDSU community takes an interest in these ambitious goals as they correspond to many of the goals articulated in the SDSU Strategic Plan, emphasizing people's resilience and their desire for equity and inclusion.

The SDSU Inspires Action: U.N. Sustainable Development Goals on Display exhibit highlights both the global reach of these goals and selected research and projects that SDSU students and faculty have completed to bring them closer to fruition.

Background

In 2020, the OCLC Global Council commissioned a study of how libraries around the world contribute to achieving the U.N. SDGs. "Flip" each of these SDG "cards" to see how our commitment to "sustainability in libraries" plays out at SDSU!
