Security Coordinator, William Staninger
Bill knows what's up.
A Friendly Face for a Serious Issue
No one likes being told what to do, but Bill Staninger brings a laid back, surfer attitude and friendly face to the serious issue of library security. As SDSU Library's security coordinator, Bill is responsible for keeping this student sanctuary a clean and safe environment for the entire community. Bill is often the first on the scene for thefts, medical emergencies, earthquakes, steam leaks, floods, fire alarms, and, yes, even bomb threats.
Knowing is Half the Battle
For Bill, crime prevention is all about preparation; the best offense for library safety is a solid plan to deal with any eventuality. Bill is the liaison to campus first responders and works with the SDSU police to do environmental scans of the library to reduce dark corners and improve lines of sight. Bill says that if he’s doing his job right, you should never know he’s here.
