SDSU Police offers several services—including safety escorts, the Red & Black Shuttle, and blue emergency “duress” telephones--designed to promote safety for faculty, students, and staff. Complete information on these campus safety services is available. Faculty, staff and students may request a safety escort from dusk to dawn, seven days a week, through the Aztec Shield mobile application available for Apple or Android devices, by calling 619-594-6659, or by using any blue emergency “duress” phone on campus. During periods of high call volume, callers may experience a wait time. SDSU Police Community Service Officers are taking short-term steps and exploring long-term options for decreasing wait times for safety escort and shuttle services and increasing their presence in campus parking lots.
SDSU has a notification system that is capable of sending text (also known as SMS) and e-mail messages in the event of a campus-wide emergency or health and safety concern. Students can sign up via WebPortal; faculty and staff can sign up on the SDSU Alert page.
