Top 10 Reasons to Use OneSearch

10.          OneSearch is a discovery tool that allows you to search most of what the SDSU Library has to offer through one easy to use platform. AND because there’s just something special about the combination of teal and yellow that puts a smile on your face!

9.            It’s better than Google because all the results come from reliable library resources AND it allows you to narrow down or “tweak” your results by availability, resource type, publication date, language, and much, much more!

8.            By default, OneSearch looks for resources at SDSU including articles, books, videos, streaming media, and course reserves. Be aware that it searches most but not all content, some databases are excluded.

7.            OneSearch has a built-in citation feature that generates citations in popular styles including: APA, MLA, and Chicago. Click on the citation icon to view and or copy the citation to another document.

6.            Because you don’t want to have to go all the way up the 5th floor of the Love Library to get a book, so you prefer to use the Virtual Browse feature to peruse the shelves from the comfort of, well wherever you are.

5.            OneSearch lets you save search queries for later if you are signed in. Click the teal push pin Save query icon above your search results list to save the search. Then click the circular arrow icon Go to search history at the top right of the screen to view your saved searches.

4.            OneSearch lets you save your search results for later as well, if you are signed in. Click the teal pushpin Keep this item icon to the right of the item to save it to your favorites. Then click the black push pin Go to my favorites icon at the top right of the screen to view your selected items.

3.            OneSearch helps you get books that are not available at SDSU, if you are signed in. Follow the blue Request from CSU Libraries (CSU+) link to request items from 23 other CSU libraries.

2.            Because just like in Fight Club, first rule of OneSearch, sign in to OneSearch. Second rule of OneSearch, sign in to OneSearch.

1.            Because your professor told you that you’ll need 3 peer-reviewed articles, 2 books, and 1 primary source for your paper, and OneSearch is a great place to start looking!
