Power to the People: An Italian Hip Hop Writing Workshop
Mar 6 2018 - 11:00am to 12:30pm

Hip Hop rappers Amir Issaa and Parker Edison bring their talents and passion to SDSU.

Along with Italian journalist and talent manager Flavio Zocchi, these artists will share their vision and expertise for creating compelling music and art.

Amir Issaa will lead a workshop on the art of writing hip hop lyrics.  Amir, also known as Meticcio, is an Italian rapper with Egyptian roots.  He has an extensive discography and sang the title song of the soundtrack for the Italian comedy movie, Scialla!  The workshop will commence at 11:00 am to 12:30 pm in the library’s Digital Humanities Center, LA61, basement level under the Dome.

“Era una febbre, il primo amore, ma non era solo amore, era anche rabbia.” In English, “It was a fever, the first love, but it was not just love, it was also anger.”

Local “rap aviator” and multi-media artist, Jack King, aka Parker Edison will join Amir for a cross cultural discussion of all things rap and hip-hop - beginning at 4 pm to 6:30 pm in LL430, fourth floor of Love Library.  Edison was discovered locally for his work with Parker & the Numberman, which won Best Hip-Hop Album at the 2012 San Diego Music Awards.  Currently he also performs with Parker and the Jazz Men.

San Diego Italian journalist and talent manager, Flavio Zocchi will join the presentation.
