Scholars in Residence Praise SDSU's Comic Arts Collection

Faculty-in-Residence poster

The College of Arts and Letters has prepared a wonderful review of last semester's visit to SDSU by the Center for Comics Studies' inaugural Comics Scholar and Comics Artist in Residence: Laurence Grove (University of Glasgow) and Frank Quitely (DC Comics - All-Star Superman, We3; Marvel Comics - New X-Men). While discussing their experience teaching a section of HIST 157 (Comics and History), Grove and Quitely describe how having access to "one of the best [comics] collections in the United States" while at SDSU is "any comics scholar's dream."

The University Library is a founding partner, along with the College of Arts and Letters, in the Center for Comics Studies, and we are excited to continue working with colleagues across SDSU to explore how distinctive library collections and services drive innovation and impact in learning, scholarship, and community engagement at a public research university.
