Each year, San Diego State University recognizes staff and faculty who have reached “milestones” in their employment. This year, the University Library is proud to recognize six “Milestone” awardees:

  • Lorraine Quintero, Resource Sharing Specialist, celebrating 25 years
  • Wil Weston, Earth Science and Maps Librarian, celebrating 20 years
  • Bann Attiq, Personnel and Process Analyst, celebrating 15 years
  • Allison Bailund, Principal Cataloging Librarian, celebrating 15 years
  • Patrick Flanigan, Digital Humanities Center Programs and Operations Specialist, celebrating 10 years
  • Pamella Lach, Digital Humanities Librarian and Digital Humanities Center Director, celebrating 10 years

While not every one of those years may have been spent in the library (or in the position they hold today), together, these colleagues represent almost a century of service to SDSU!

"I am very happy in my current position where I work directly with students helping them discover and achieve their goals," said Flanigan. “When I got my Master's in Library Science over 15 years ago, my goal was to come back to the SDSU Library and give back to the institution and community that had a huge impact on me.  I'm very grateful to feel that I'm doing that."

“Every Spring on National Library Workers Day, we like to remind people that ‘Libraries Work Because We Do,’” said Scott Walter, Dean of the University Library, “and the Milestone Awards are another important reminder of the impact that our most experienced colleagues have on our work together in the library and the services we can provide to the SDSU community.”

“When I think back on my time at SDSU, I'm grateful for the opportunity to work with amazing colleagues,” said Attiq.  “I've enjoyed my many roles over the years and the opportunity to work with our talented students.”
