Another Key to Success-An SDPL Library Card
September is Library Card Sign-Up Month and you can sign up for a San Diego Public Library library card on campus September 27.
SDSU community members already have access to all of the spaces, services, and resources of the University Library through their SDSU Cards, and can even request books be delivered to you here on campus from our partners throughout San Diego County through the San Diego Circuit, but did you know that you can get even more through the San Diego Public Library if you have an SDPL library card?
If you are a resident of the City of San Diego, you can borrow materials directly from any SDPL branch, and you can also have digital access to SDPL resources that we do not have at SDSU, including some found in its extensive collection of electronic books, journals, magazines, and streaming media. If you would like to brush up your skills in fields from IT to Business to Art and Design, you would have unlimited access to thousands of online courses through LinkedIn Learning. If you have siblings or children at home, you can also access resources for homework help (or you can help them get their own library card). And with the Discover and Go program you can visit many San Diego museums and attractions for free.
The College-Rolando branch library is within easy walking distance of campus, and the Mission Valley and Central libraries are on the trolley line.
At SDPL we believe the library is the place for opportunity, discovery, and inspiration. Signing up for a library card is much more than books (and ebooks) -- it’s free State Park passes, our Discover & Go program to museums and other attractions, its access to makerspaces and IDEA Labs-- its a portal to fostering diversity and creating equity and creating connections to one another. Signing up is completely free -- all that is needed is a government-issued picture ID and a proof of address (mail, lease agreement, Amazon bill, etc.)
-- Trevor Jones, Branch Manager, College-Rolando Branch Library
Representatives from SDPL will be on campus on the North Library Patio (outside of Love Library) on September 27 from 10 am - 1 pm to help you sign up for your SDPL Card. Please bring a valid photo ID and proof of current address in the City of San Diego and enjoy access to everything our public library has to offer.
If you do not live in the City of San Diego, you can still sign up for a library card from your local public library, which might be the San Diego County Public Library, Chula Vista Public Library, National City Public Library, El Centro Public Library, or another public library near you. Wherever you live, your public library may have something to offer that can extend the resources available to you and your family and can help you to be successful at SDSU.
Sign up this month and see what they have!
