New Library Faculty and Associate Dean
The University Library is happy to welcome three new tenure-track faculty members and an Associate Dean to San Diego State this Fall.
Suzanne Maguire began her service as Instruction Librarian in January 2024, having served previously as an Assistant Librarian at SDSU. In this role, Suzanne is responsible for coordinating the library's instructional program and collaborating with colleagues inside and outside the library on the assessment of student learning. Suzanne came to SDSU from Mt. San Antonio College and received her Masters in Library and Information Science from San Jose State University.
Rayyon Robinson began their service as Social Science and Data Librarian in July 2024. In this role, Rayyon is responsible for research, instruction, outreach, and collections services to the departments of Political Science, Urban Studies, Criminal Justice, Public Affairs and also serves as part of the library's data services team. Rayyon came to SDSU from the San Francisco Public Library and received their MLIS from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Connor Franklin Rey joined the library as the Assessment Librarian in August 2024. Connor is responsible for coordinating data collection related to the use of library resources, services, and spaces, and for collaborating with colleagues inside and outside the library to demonstrate the value and impact of library services on student success and faculty productivity, and to assist library colleagues in making and communicating data-informed decisions. Connor came to SDSU from the University of Washington where they recently completed their MLIS degree.
Randyn Heisserer-Miller will begin his service as Associate Dean of Libraries for Collections and Discovery Services in September 2024. In this new leadership role, Randyn will be responsible for providing vision and strategic direction across key areas of the University Library, including Collections, Acquisitions, Interlibrary Loan, Content Organization and Management, and Digital Collections. Randyn comes to SDSU from Colorado State University, where he served as Head of Collection Strategies and Interim Head of Resource Sharing. Randyn received M.M. degrees in Vocal Performance in Opera and Vocal Pedagogy from the New England Conservatory of Music, and his MLIS from the University of Missouri.
