If your research has you looking for sources of data, consider searching in an open access database.

This might mean looking in data.census.gov for content from the U.S. Census. They have pre-set tables on a wide variety of demographic topics such as employment, health, and race and ethnicity. You can create customised maps and explore data profiles for states, counties, zip codes, etc.

If you are interested in law, take a look at Hall of Justice for publicly available criminal justice datasets and research. Or Legislative Responses for Policing-State Bill Tracking Database (NCSL National Conference of State Legislatures) for law enforcement legislation.

For those focusing on California issues, CALSPEAKS at Sacramento State covers public opinion topics. California State Geoportal is great for environment, transportation, education, and so on.

If you need help with finding data, feel free to contact a librarian! We're available thru the "Ask Us" online chat or you can set up an appointment with a subject specialist.
