Partners

Collaboration and community engagement are among the core values embraced by the San Diego State University Library, and these values form the foundation of powerful partnerships with colleagues across the university, around the San Diego and Imperial Valley regions, and in the broader cultural heritage community.

This list of partner programs represents strategic and sustained collaborative efforts to which the library currently commits time, resources, and expertise. This list will evolve over time, and you will find other examples of partnerships representing library contributions to learning, scholarship, and engagement at SDSU elsewhere on our web site.

Center for Comics Studies

Center for Comics Studies

The San Diego State University Library was a co-founder, along with the College of Arts and Letters, of the Center for Comics Studies (CCS). The CCS is an interdisciplinary center for teaching, learning, scholarship, and community engagement around comic books and other graphic arts housed in the University Library’s collection. Since 2021, the CCS has received grants from the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the National Endowment for the Humanities and has launched several new courses that are now part of the SDSU Certificate in Comics Studies. In Fall 2025, the Center for Comics Studies hosts our inaugural Comic-Artist-in-Residence and Comics-Scholar-in-Residence who will team teach a special section of HIST 157 (“History of Comics in 10 SDSU Treasures”).
