DH Virtual Book Talk Flyer: Mike Chasar, Poetry Unbound
Mar 29 2021 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm

Join DH@SDSU for the third of four virtual book talks.

Mike Chasar (Willamette University), Poetry Unbound: Poems and New Media from the Magic Lantern to Instagram (Columbia University Press, 2020). Join us to discuss the mediation of poetry by nonprint mass media, asking questions like: What is the relationship between a poem and the medium that transmits it? How do poems become differently meaningful when they're projected via magic lantern, aired on the radio, broadcast on TV, designed for social media, or made the subject matter of films like The Night Before Christmas (1905) or A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001)? Co-sponsored by the SDSU Department of English & Comparative Literature.

This event is part of the Spring 2021 programming co-organized by the DH Center and DH@SDSU. These programs provide opportunities for faculty, students, and community members to come together to critically explore the digital.
