Customized Library Session

Customized Library Instruction Sessions are interactive, course-integrated, library research sessions. In these sessions students will learn how to analyze a topic, use reference resources, and develop a search strategy for finding sources for their writing assignments. We will work with you to customize a research session that aligns with your assignment and class learning objectives. We recommend scheduling this session after your students have been given a research assignment.

Learning Outcomes (subject to change due to customization):

1. Identify source types appropriate for your research assignment (determined by research topic and assignment instructions)
2. Identify the main concept(s) of a research question and think of effective search terms
3. Develop search strategies using Boolean operators, search filters, and more
4. Identify bibliographic elements in sources: publication title, publisher, author, date, etc.)
