Library & Information Access and the Digital Humanities Initiative invite you to a series of events designed to provoke
critical engagement with the book. Events scheduled for the academic year 2016-17 are outlined below:


Fall 2016

Introductory Bookmaking Workshop
Tuesday, Oct. 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Art building, room 453
25 seats, priority given to students, RSVP with name, major, and red ID to: aculbertson [at] mail [dot] sdsu [dot] edu
***UPDATE*** Students must RSVP by Friday, Oct. 7 at 5 p.m., at which point waiting list will be moved into remaining seats.

Lecture by Dr. Jessica Pressman, SDSU Dept. of English: “Bookishness: On Fetishizing the Book in the Age of its Disappearance”
Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 4 p.m. in Love Library, room 430

Student Showcase: The Book as Medium
A curated exhibit of creative research and projects that explore the book in concept and/or form. Call for entries open until Nov. 1st. 
***UPDATE*** Deadline extended to Nov. 30th! More information below in attached image.

Lecture by UCSD Distinguished Professor of Literature, Dr. Seth Lerer: “Children's Literature and the Arts of the Book:
Reflections in a Digital Age”
Thursday, Feb. 7 at 4 p.m. in Love Library, room 430

DIY Publishing panel with Dr. Adam Hammond and Jenny Minniti-Shippey, MFA, of SDSU’s Dept. of English,
and special guest, April Peveteaux, author of blog-turned-book Gluten is my Bitch (Stewart, Tabori and Chang, 2013).
Wednesday, Mar. 22 at 2 p.m. in Love Library, room 430

SDSU Student Electronic Literature Competition 2017
Cash prize of $250! All student submissions of born-digital literature of all genres and styles are welcome.
Deadline for submissions: May 7
